Cnn reports that H&M and Wal-Mart have been tearing up old garments, cutting off finger tips of gloves, tearing holes on sleeves, and destroying shoes, then completely trashing them…..BUT! by doing that, both companies still manage to up all the prices on their garments (even tho both say that still have the lowest prices).A graduate student from New York brought this to the publics attention when she found 20 black bags behind an H&M location, only to find out torn up clothes that could of been given to charity. CNN states that in many U.S. cities, a third of the population is poor. This behavior from both companies is wasteful and irresponsible.

As a long-time sales associate for H&M, I can say that this report is very true. There have been several occasions that old clothes would be torn up by not just employees, but managers as well. I never understood why the company won’t donate the clothes to various thrift-stores or charities, the only response I would get from managers was so no one could replicate our garments and steal ideas.
Both companies report that they will put an end to destroying clothes…..we’ll see about that.
H&M and Wal-Mart are tore up
